Southwestern Energy, one of the largest U.S. independent exploration and production companies, is focused on responsibly developing America’s abundant supply of natural gas, oil, and natural gas liquids to fuel economic growth. Our high-quality, large-scale assets are concentrated in the Appalachian Basin in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Appalachian Basin

Southwestern Energy is strategically positioned in the Appalachian basin, one of the world’s largest and most prolific natural gas plays. The basin has become one of the top sources of domestic natural gas. The company’s assets extend nearly 500,000 acres in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Production in 2018 of 2.64 Bcfe per day was up approximately 7% from 2017. SWN’s Appalachia assets produce industry-leading returns, with a growing proportion of higher-value liquids.

Southwestern Energy began acquiring acreage in West Virginia in 2014, targeting the Marcellus, Utica and Upper Devonian Shales. Today, we are a leading operator in the basin and are converting our vast resources into proved reserves through technical advances and a razor sharp focus on cost management through the lifecycle of the asset.
