- Corporate Responsibility
SWN is committed to safeguarding our employees, contractors and communities near our operations, as well as to protecting the environment. In particular, everyone working in our activities – whether employed by our company or someone else – should return home safely every day.
This unwavering commitment to health, safety and environmental (HSE) performance is a core value of SWN. SWN leaders, including senior management, are evaluated on and held accountable for the HSE performance of their teams. We include HSE considerations in every business decision we make, and they are never secondary to commercial concerns.
HSE Programs and Training
In 2018, we enhanced our HSE programs to drive us closer to our goal of zero safety incidents. For example, we tripled the number of dedicated in-the-field HSE professionals through our Safety and Environmental Champions program. We also implemented an improved incident tracking, analysis and reporting system to help us spot trends and prevent incidents.
Metrics and Performance
We measure company HSE performance using numerous leading and lagging indicators, and all SWN employees and contractors are evaluated on and held accountable for HSE performance. We achieved outstanding safety performance in 2018, averaging a decrease in recordable incidents across all our operating areas of 70 percent.
Health and Well-Being
Through our The Right You program, SWN promotes employee health and well-being in four focus areas: physical, financial, social and community. In 2018, we continued to enhance the benefits and support offered to employees under this program.
