Southwestern Energy Company is an integrated energy company headquartered in Houston, Texas, primarily focused on the exploration for and production of natural gas. Originally organized in 1929 as a local natural gas distribution company in Arkansas, today the Company is involved in the following activities:

Natural Gas and Crude Oil Exploration and Production - Southwestern is engaged in natural gas and oil exploration, development and production in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana. At December 31, 2007, the Company's proved oil and gas reserves totaled 1,450 Bcf equivalent, of which approximately 96% were natural gas. The Company primarily conducts its exploration and production activities through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Southwestern Energy Production Company and SEECO, Inc.

Midstream Services - The Company's Midstream Services segment generates revenue through the marketing of its own gas production and some third-party natural gas and from gathering fees associated with the transportation of natural gas to market. The Company's gas marketing subsidiary, Southwestern Energy Services Company, enables the Company to capture downstream opportunities which arise through marketing and transportation activity. In 2004, the Company formed a new subsidiary, DeSoto Gathering Company, L.L.C., to engage in gathering activities related to the development of the Fayetteville Shale play.

Natural Gas Distribution - On July 1, 2008, Southwestern Energy announced that it had closed the sale of its utility business, Arkansas Western Gas Company, to SourceGas, LLC. As a result of the sale of the utility, the company is no longer engaged in any natural gas distribution operations.
